The Bendigo Bombers ended their three game losing streak with an impressive win over the Coburg Tigers. Bendigo set-up the win at Punt Road with a six goal to two opening term. Mark Alvey made the Essendon match committee stand-up and take notice with a best on ground performance. Alvey dominated through the midfield and collected 29 possessions.

Alvey was no certainty to play for Bendigo on Sunday. Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy said he was nearly a late inclusion in the senior team the night before. ""Mark warmed up for the match against Geelong because we had one player not quite well out there and we might have had to change the team sheet after it went in,"" Sheedy said.

The Bombers were in control for the majority of the match and their lead stretched out to 49-points midway through the second term. Inaccurate kicking in the second half, allowed Coburg to get back into the match, however Bendigo were too strong and ran out 19-point winners.

Sheedy was an interested on-looker at the match yesterday. ""That is the best our reserves has played collectively in a while, which is good. There is five or six players that are really putting pressure on the senior boys,"" Sheedy said.

Kepler Bradley continued his impressive season and starred up forward against Coburg. Despite kicking four goals, the youngster let himself down with his kicking for goal. He booted six behinds to take his contribution on the scoreboard to 30 points. Bradley also collected 18 possessions.

Jason Winderlich and Jobe Watson also had solid games and along with Bradley and Alvey will be pushing for senior selection this week. Winderlich finished with 24 touches and booted one goal. Watson back up his best on ground performance last week for Bendigo, with another impressive game. His statistics at the end of the game were – 12 kicks, eight handballs and five marks.

The victory was Bendigo’s third for the season and pushes them back into the top eight on percentage. Bendigo faces Frankston at Queen Elizabeth Oval next Saturday, May 29th at 6.30pm.
