The Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce that Bill Brittingham and Ted Fordham will join our Hall of Fame in 2023.

Brittingham represented the Dons 172 times as a player from 1943-1952, kicking 181 goals and playing a key factor in three famed premiership sides (1946, 1949-50).

Brittingham played one match for Victoria in 1948 and would finish second in the Crichton Medal for the 1950 premiership year.

Brittingham served on both the EFC and EFCPP&OA Committees and contributed to the club’s memorabilia collection, providing audio tapes of past players to the club until his passing in 1996.

Fordham was a key contributor for the Dons between 1961-1969, kicking 214 goals from his 128 games.

Fordham played a starring role in the 1965 Grand Final victory, booting seven goals in the defeat of the Saints as the Bombers claimed their twelfth premiership.

He would continue his form into the 1976 season, where he led the VFL goalkicking with 76 majors for the year.

Fordham too was a member of the EFC Committee and would later serve in critical roles as Vice President of the club (1976-1983) and Chairman of Selectors (1976-1979).

Both men have made invaluable contributions to the football club and are fully deserving of the honour.
