Watson rated as Essendon's best midfielder
Jobe Watson had his best season to date, playing 22 games and winning the 2009 Crichton Medal. He is argueably the most important midfielder in the team with his consistent clearance work and precision handball skills. The fans agreed giving him a rating of 8.25/10, up from 7.26/10 in 2008.

His best year, and I would say he still has some improvement left in him to make him a great leader in the competition. Extremely important for the next few years. (Jan Di Pietro)
He is an absolute star and takes after his father. He can be hot and cold but on his appearance against St Kilda in Round 20 he was brilliant. (Brad Clark)
He is the midfielder who made it happen when Essendon played well. He is a gritty, determined in and under player...and his kicking has improved tremendously. A bit more in the gym in summer and Jobe will be a fine on-field leader in 2010. (Terry Wescombe)
Massive improvement across the board. Really found his place within the centre square set-up. Will look forward to seeing how he can perform in 2010 working off two ruckmen rather than just one. (Danny Bishop)
Essendon would be lost without Jobe, this kid is a star - we would have no chance of getting it out of the center without the existence of jobe. 2009 his best season! (Caitlin Walsh)
Jobe was so good this year, he stepped up just when the team needed him. His improvement has been amazing and they way he goes in for the ball and lifts when needed. He should have at least got into the All-Australian squad of 40. (Ruby Cox)
Needs to exhibit more on-field presence. He must take more contested marks for a guy his size and must look like he feels at home when not under a pack. (Ross Jones)
Probably still the worst kick in the league & the most improved kick all at the same time. Without him this team can not function into the future, he's the only true contested ball winner in the side (especially at clearances). (Jim Bookie)
A fantastic season for Jobe culminating in a well deserved Crichton Medal. Finally his foot skills matched his exceptional hand skills. A testament to his hard work and training ethic. (Garry Munn)
Elite midfielder. His disposal by foot has improved dramatically and his clearances in the middle have been so crucial in our wins this year. Has shown real leadership qualities this year and is deserving of being the captain in 2010. (Nghia Nguyen)
