Essendon hit the track for the first time since its disappointing loss against Carlton and the sight of Lloyd training strongly and marking would have brought a smile to the faces of Bomber fans.
But the coach is leaving the final decision in the hands of others and will not risk his champion full forward.
""He will be tested, through his marking, and in the end it will be up to him of how it feels,"" Sheedy said.
""He won’t play if he’s not right and in the end that’s a decision for the medical staff to make, not the coaching staff.""
And if Lloyd isn’t a starter on Sunday afternoon, the coach still has faith in his forward line.
""Scott Lucas has been good, he’s on top of the goal kicking so there are some positives, we didn’t get the four points but we did get 19 per cent back, so you have to look at positives at times.
""We now have to make sure we have our mind set on this week and not last week and get our mind on how we can win."" Sheedy said
Jason Laycock also trained strongly today and has been given the all clear from Sheedy to play on the weekend.
His return will add another dimension to the forward line, and will be an important inclusion to the ruck that will have their hands full against Peter Everitt.
James Hird looks likely to line up again in the back line, and it could be a sign of things to come. ""He might be there for the rest of his career,"" Sheedy indicated.
""He’s not too far away from peaking, so hopefully we get him right back up this week.""
