For Essendon to be considered a serious Premiership threat this season it must start beating sides above it on the ladder. As it stands, the Bombers have only got over two opponents this season that sit above it on the ladder. Conversely they have lost to five top-eight sides. The next two weeks will give Essendon a chance to improve that record and the first opportunity comes at AAMI Stadium tomorrow night when it takes on the Adelaide Crows.
The man that so many Essendon supporters feel should be a permanent fixture in the senior side - Cory McGrath - has earned a senior recall following some good performances for the Bendigo Bombers. With Joe Misiti out with a foot injury, the Essendon selectors could no longer ignore McGrath's form and named him for tomorrow night's crucial match with Adelaide at AAMI Stadium. Jobe Watson also comes into the side while Steven Alessio has been omitted.
