Robson said the club was expected to make the move from the current base at Windy Hill to the new facilities at Melbourne Airport within the next twelve months and continued funding was vital.
“We are on track to have the oval ready for us to train on by this November for the 2013 pre-season,” Robson said.
“Hopefully around about this time next year we won’t be too far away from moving into the new buildings.
“Everybody at the club is very excited about it but very much focused at the same time on what lies in front of us.”
Robson said the move to Melbourne Airport would play a key role in Essendon continuing to become a force in the AFL landscape - both on and off the field.
“From a whole heap of different perspectives this move became very important,” Robson told SEN.
“In its kindest expression the facilities at Windy Hill are no longer fit for purpose and we need to go to a facility that is fit for purpose.
“The purpose is we want to be a serious contender in this very tough competition, in terms of how we prepare the players and how we recruit potential Bomber players into the future.”
