The Essendon cricketers are set to do battle at Windy Hill today with some of the finest cricket talent in the world in the 3 Mobile Six-a-Side Showdown. It will be a frantic run chase with both Essendon and Australia to face one over from each opposition player. The Bombers do look out of their depth but some innovative rules changes might bring the two sides closer together.

The rules are:

  • Each player must bowl one over
  • Batsman bat in pairs and face two overs.
  • Teams lose three runs every time they lose a wicket and the batsmen must then swap ends.
  • Essendon players can't go out first ball or LBW.
  • The Australian players must run every time they hit the ball.
  • Essendon can dismiss Australian batsman if they catch the ball one hand after one bounce.

Today's match will last for about one hour. Entry is Free and players will sign autographs during the course of the game. The match starts at 1.45pm but people are advised to arrive a little earlier to ensure they can park within walking distance of the ground.
