Sheedy the latest Bomber struck down by injury
Just when you thought Essendon's injury list couldn't get any longer, another key Bomber will undergo surgery tomorrow. But it is not a player we are talking about, it's senior coach Kevin Sheedy. Sheedy will have an operation on his shoulder to repair ligament and tendon damage.
Just when you thought Essendon's injury list couldn't get any longer, another key Bomber will undergo surgery tomorrow. But it is not a player we are talking about, it's senior coach Kevin Sheedy. Sheedy will have an operation on his shoulder to repair ligament and tendon damage.
Sheedy sustained the injury on the training track late last week when Dean Solomon accidentally collided with the coach when running backwards to try and take a mark. Sheedy had the shoulder scanned this morning and it was decided he would need surgery to rectify the problem.
While the surgery is quite significant, Sheedy is still expected to be able to coach Essendon against Carlton at the MCG this weekend.
James Hird says anyone suggesting Essendon is too comfortable in defeat and tanking games should have a look at last weekend's match against St Kilda. In his latest column - The Word from Hird - he says that you could not possibly question the players' commitment and it was unfortunate they were not getting reward for effort.
