Recent AFL Debutant, Archer Day-Wicks, has signed a one-year contract extension after having an incredible start to the 2025 VFL and AFL season.
The 18-year-old joined the Bombers with pick No.6 in the 2024 Rookie Draft from the Bendigo Pioneers U18 and VIC Country.
With strong body work and a natural goal sense, Day-Wicks has continued to impress the coaching staff and playing group with his on-field versatility and relentless drive to improve his craft week in, week out.
Making his AFL debut in Round 10 against the Sydney Swans, Day-Wicks slotted his first career goal in front of an ecstatic group of family and friends, an unforgettable moment that showcased his readiness to perform on the big stage.
Day-Wicks said he's grateful to be locked in with the Bombers for another year and wants to continue to make an impact.
“I love this Club and we have the best fans in the league. I couldn’t ask for anything better than another year at the Bombers” – Day-Wicks said.
“Being selected again shows trust from the Coaches, which makes me happy with my effort so far. I’m excited to get stuck into the game this weekend against the Dogs.”
General Manager of List and Recruiting, Matt Rosa, is thrilled for Day-Wicks and said the one-year contract extension is reward for effort
“Archer being offered a one-year contract extension is clear reward for effort. We have been extremely impressed with the progress he has made in the VFL, and now at AFL level. He has shown a great hunger to improve his craft and works hard on and off-field to do that. We’re all thrilled for him and can’t wait to see the impact he has here at the Bombers” – Rosa said.
Day-Wicks will line up for his second AFL game this weekend as the Bombers look to take on the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night for ‘Marngrook at Marvel’.
