Essendon will likely be without Zach Reid, Kyle Langford and Saad El-Hawli until after the Club’s mid-season bye.
Reid (hamstring) and Langford (quad) each sustained strains in last week’s win over Richmond – after scans over the weekend, it’s expected that they’ll both miss the next 4-6 weeks.
El-Hawli experienced some hamstring tightness early in Saturday night’s VFL clash with Richmond, and scans on Monday morning revealed a strain – similarly, he is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks.
Ben McKay will miss Thursday night’s clash with Brisbane off a short turnaround due to a foot injury. At this stage a return-to-play timeframe is yet to be determined for the key back.
Unfortunately, Nik Cox has been experiencing concussion symptoms since his return via the VFL a fortnight ago, and is currently in the AFL Concussion Protocols.
A timeframe has also become clearer for Harry Jones, with the forward expected to miss 4-5 weeks in his recovery from an ankle injury.
