The official fixture for the 2025 NAB AFLW season has landed with the Bombers set to play a record six matches at Windy Hill.

As the league looks to celebrate the 10th season of the AFLW competition, the Bombers faithful are in for a massive season ahead with Windy Hill the heart of the Bombers for 2025. After record crowds in 2024, marquee matchups will again be the feature Windy Hill that will bolster the community spirit within the Essendon region even further, and to hopefully have even more footy fans donning the sash.

The Bombers will host West Coast, Geelong, St Kilda, North Melbourne, Brisbane and rivals Hawthorn at Windy Hill highlighted by the fan-favourite tradition, hosting North Melbourne in the AFL Grand Final Eve clash kicking off at 3.05pm on Friday, September 26. This will see the Bombers lighting up Windy Hill on the Grand Final Eve public holiday ahead of the huge AFL Grand Final on the Saturday. 

A highlight of the season will be the return to Darwin in Round 3, as the Bombers take on Richmond FC for Friday night footy at TIO Stadium for the second year of AFLW Dreamtime, which is part of the Indigenous Round celebrations spanning Rounds 3 and 4.  

This special Dreamtime match honours Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, players, and communities, and holds deep significance for the whole of the Essendon Football Club. 

Essendon CEO Craig Vozzo shared his excitement for the upcoming season, highlighting his enthusiasm for the historic six games scheduled at Windy Hill.

“We’re thrilled to be part of this landmark AFLW season as the league celebrates its 10th season. Playing more games, especially in front of our passionate supporters at Windy Hill, it is a huge moment for our Club and the AFLW competition,” Vozzo said. 

“Windy Hill is more than just a ground for Essendon. It is an important part of the very soul of our club and our community, steeped in generations of Essendon history and tradition. To be able to host a record number of AFLW matches there this season is incredibly significant. It's a powerful moment that connects our past with the exciting future of women's football, and we can't wait to see the Red & Black faithful fill the stands again this season.

“To again be taking part in the Dreamtime match up in Darwin and Pride Round is extremely important to our Club. We want to continue to highlight, support and showcase those special rounds. 

“To say I’m pumped AFLW Season 2025 is an understatement – bring on all the W action.” 

The Bombers will proudly take part in the Pride Round, celebrated over Rounds 9 and 10, showcasing the Club and leagues continued commitment to inclusion and diversity within the game.

Essendon’s 2025 AFLW Season will kick-off on Saturday, August 16 when they face the GWS GIANTS away at Manuka Oval before its first home game at Windy Hill on Sunday, August 24. The Bombers will feature on Channel 7 broadcast six times this season with the remaining games on Fox Footy.
