For the first time in Essendon's history, our Community Team has secured a place in the Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) Grand Final, and what a way to get there.

In a thrilling Preliminary Final showdown, the Dons overcame the Pies with a commanding final-quarter surge that left no doubt about their premiership intentions.

Spearheading the charge was Chris Henderson, who delivered a masterclass in front of goal, finishing with a seven-goal haul. His performance proved to be the difference-maker in a fierce contest.

Now, riding a wave of confidence and momentum, the team is gearing up for the ultimate challenge - a Grand Final showdown against long-time rivals Richmond.

The Tigers have had the upper hand in both meetings this season, making this decider not only a battle for the premiership but also a shot at redemption. It's a rivalry that promises fireworks, and with a premiership on the line, every possession will count.

This is the team’s first-ever appearance in a VWFL Grand Final, a remarkable milestone that highlights the tremendous growth, resilience, and dedication of everyone connected to the program. From players and coaches to volunteers and supporters, the journey has been inspiring.

With one game standing between them and their ultimate goal, the team is laser-focused on making history and securing the first piece of silverware in the club’s wheelchair football journey.
