Essendon Football Club marked International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) at the NEC Hangar, welcoming guests from What Ability, Freedom Sports Foundation and Thrive Auslan, alongside players, coaches, and staff.
The session featured guest speakers from the Essendon Wheelchair Football team, Chris Henderson and Yasmina McGlone, who shared their experiences and insights to help build understanding across the Club.
Players and staff participated in a variety of activities, including a clinic with What Ability participants, an introduction to Auslan, and a series of empathy-based scenarios including a Wheelchair navigation session before wrapping up with an all-in wheelchair football game where Archie Roberts, Angus Clarke and Mason Redman were among the standouts.
The day formed part of Essendon’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement.
