Essendon's VFL clash with Footscray on Sunday will now take place at Marvel Stadium as a curtain raiser for the corresponding AFL fixture.

Initially scheduled at Mission Whitten Oval, the update will see the 3:20pm (AEST) VFL game lead directly into the Dons' Sunday night matchup against the Dogs.

Fans with valid tickets to the AFL clash will be granted entry for the early game, with gates to be open for the curtain raiser.

Details regarding which specific gate to enter will be confirmed closer to the day.

The VFL Dons will be looking to springboard from an impressive return to form against the Roos last week, where they levelled their record at 1-1 with a 19-point win.
