Elijah Tsatas says Essendon’s recent form is showing clear signs of growth, with the young midfielder highlighting improvements through the middle and a stronger connection across the ground. 

Since his return to the senior side, Tsatas has not missed a beat, amassing 54 disposals across the Club’s last two matches.  

Even despite a narrow loss on the weekend to the Gold Coast Suns, Tsatas believes the group is building toward more consistent performances, where the four points will become the result on the back of the hard work.

It’s obviously frustrating not getting the win, but there were some awesome signs from the boys. 

I think individually there were some great performances across the board from some young players, which is awesome. 

But as a team we want to find a way to finish those games and get the job done. 

It’s a positive that we’re challenging good teams and going for four quarters.

It’s been good getting more opportunity inside and working with the other midfielders. 

I’ve had a clear role the past two weeks from the coaches and the boys around me. 

I’m just playing my role, and individual performances come off the back of that.

I think we’ve been really good around the ball, especially the past two weeks. 

We’ve won clearance and contested possession, which has been a positive. 

It’s just about getting a bit more bang for buck and turning those into scores.

It’s been a clear message to bring the heat and bring the pressure, because that’s where the game starts. 

The last two weeks, it’s been awesome. You can feel it out there, hunting the ball and hunting the man.

It definitely keeps you on edge. You want to keep performing week in and week out. 

It’s a good problem to have as a Club, with a lot of guys putting their hand up.

He’s (Darcy Parish) been awesome. 

We’ve got a good connection off-field, and on-field we understand how each other wants to play. 

He’s been a great mentor, especially working through midfield stuff over the past 12 months.

It’s obviously a massive week for the Club and a great honour to play in such a big game.  

We build it up really well as a Club, getting out to the Shrine and being part of everything. 

I’m really excited and hopefully we can get the job done.
