Dons step up for Challenge

BTV: Media Conference | Worsfold - July 10 Senior coach John Worsfold spoke to the media at The Hangar.

Essendon will take on North Melbourne in the Tackling Childhood Cancer game, in support of the Bombers’ charity partner Challenge.

The Bombers will proudly wear the Challenge logo on the front of their guernsey which also features the yellow armband, inspired by former premiership player and cancer survivor Adam Ramanauskas.

Challenge has been Essendon’s charity partner for over 20 years, with coach John Worsfold acknowledging the importance of Saturday’s game.

“This weekend is our Challenge game, in which we support tackling childhood cancer,” Worsfold said.

“It’s a big game for us that we are really proud to be a part of, and hopefully everyone will help support the cause.”

Throughout the 2019 season, the Essendon playing group has worked closely with the children at Challenge House and the Royal Children’s Hospital, with one player in particular going above and beyond with his support.

That man is Jake Stringer, has visited the children and their families on a weekly basis since arriving at Essendon in 2017.

On his own accord and with the support of Concave, the star forward has designed boots that he’ll wear and auction post-game, with all proceeds going to Challenge.

Jake Stringer will wear these specially designed boots in support of Challenge on Saturday.

The Tackling Childhood Cancer game will begin at 4:35pm at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
