The fixture for the opening week of the finals has been released and Essendon is set for a huge elimination final clash with West Coast at Optus Stadium on Thursday, September 5.

The Bombers will travel to Perth for the third time this season to take on the reigning premiers, who fell to fifth in the final round of the season after suffering a 38-point loss to Hawthorn on Saturday night.

The Dons will also be looking to bounce back from their narrow loss to Collingwood on Friday night, with the winner of the final set to progress forward and take on the loser of the first qualifying final between Geelong and Collingwood.
