Essendon has announced Dan Jordan will lead the forward line as assistant coach for the 2020 season.

Jordan first joined the Bombers as a development coach ahead of the 2016 season, before coaching the Bombers’ VFL side from 2018 and leading it to consecutive preliminary finals.

In his time at The Hangar, Jordan has sought personal and career development opportunities through an advanced diploma of business, completing the final year of a bachelor of applied management and spending time with New Zealand’s All Blacks in Buenos Aires.

Jordan was formally recognised at the 2019 Shadforth Financial Group AFL Coaches Association Awards, where he received the La Trobe Business School and Education Award after furthering his coaching credentials through study and career development.

With extensive knowledge of the Bombers’ game-plan and key relationships at the club, Jordan will glide into a senior role within the AFL coaching department, steering the forwards.

General manager of football Dan Richardson said the appointment was well-earned.

“We are pleased to have Dan join the AFL coaching panel ahead of the 2020 season,” Richardson said.

“Since arriving at the club, Dan has constantly demanded the best of himself and his players, always striving for further improvement.

“Dan has extensive knowledge of the playing list and intricacies of the club’s game-plan - key pillars that will be instrumental in his transition into the new role.”

The club will look to appoint a VFL coach in the coming weeks.
