Peter Wright will miss Essendon’s Dreamtime at the ‘G clash against Richmond after scans confirmed ligament damage to his knee.

The injury was sustained early in the first quarter against Walyalup on Sunday during a ruck contest. The collision saw Wright initially come from the ground before returning to play out the remainder of the game.

Wright woke up with soreness and swelling in the knee on Monday morning, with a follow-up MRI then confirming the full extent of the injury.

A clearer return-to-play timeline will be communicated by the Club in the coming days.

“We’re disappointed for Pete, who’s been playing some of his best footy to date this season,” Essendon’s GM - AFL Daniel McPherson said.

“We’ll provide an update on his return to play in the coming days.
