Dean Solomon has been appointed by the Essendon Football Club as the Interim Senior Coach.

Solomon has most recently served on the Club’s Board of Directors throughout 2025 before returning to the football program as an assistant coach for the 2026 season.

Solomon played 158 of his 209 AFL games for the Bombers, including Essendon’s 2000 premiership.

Following his retirement from AFL football at Fremantle, Solomon transitioned immediately into coaching, joining the Dockers as an Assistant Coach in 2010 before moving to the Gold Coast SUNS ahead of their inaugural AFL season in 2011.

He spent nine years at the SUNS across a variety of assistant coaching roles, including a stint as caretaker Senior Coach in 2017, before returning to AFL coaching in 2022 as a part-time Assistant Coach with the GWS GIANTS.
