Archie Roberts has been named in Essendon's squad to face reigning premiers Brisbane on Sunday, marking a rapid and welcome return from the youngster's dislocated shoulder back in round 14.

The Bombers could also be boosted by a first game of the year for Angus Clarke, who's overcome multiple lower leg setbacks to produce a stellar VFL outing with 21 disposals and two goals last week - he's been included alongside others hopeful for returns in Harry Jones, Max Kondogiannis and Lachie Blakiston.

Jordan Ridley has been managed after pulling up sore from last week's game but is expected to be available for round 19's annual Challenge Game against GWS at Marvel Stadium. 

Will Setterfield has been omitted from the side.
