Essendon is thrilled to announce defender Georgia Clarke has recommitted to the Club, signing a three-year contract extension that will keep her in the sash until at least the end of 2029. 

Clarke has proved her significance throughout pre-season, playing an important role in the sides match simulations and practice matches while continuing to develop into a mainstay of the Essendon backline since her move from Geelong.

Clarke is an integral part of Essendon's defensive unit, with her composure, competitiveness and willingness to embrace her role seeing her continue to grow amongst the competition’s best defenders. 

Josh Moore AFLW Head of List and Recruiting said Clarke's extension reflected both her development and the impact she continues to have within the program. 

“Georgia has seen tremendous growth after coming across from Geelong”. 

“To learn, grow and become a mainstay in the competition is testament to her character.” 

Clarke said committing her future to Essendon was an easy decision, with belief in the direction of the program and the people around her driving her desire to remain at the Club. 

“I am super excited to pen a new deal and stick around in the Red and Black”. 

“I love this program and the girls, we have a real tight knit group here and I’m really bullish on where this group can go.” 

With Clarke now locked in through to at least the end of 2029, Essendon continues to strengthen the foundations of its list, securing another important piece of its future as the Club looks to take the next step in the AFLW competition.
