Essendon is proud to announce the re-signings of emerging stars Jacob Farrow and Dyson Sharp until at least the end of 2030.

In a massive showing of faith towards the Club’s drive forward with its young list, the first-year Rising Stars nominees have committed long-term after standout debut seasons.

Drafted at picks No.10 and No.13 respectively, Farrow and Sharp have quickly made themselves at home in the red and black this season and have taken very little time to endear themselves to the Bomber faithful.

West Australian Farrow has featured in every game since a round three debut and looks firmly at home at the highest level. Slotting into the lineup on half back, he’s shown great composure for a first-year player averaging more than 18 touches and six marks per game. In just his third career game, Farrow starred in the Bombers’ Gather Round win against Melbourne earning a Telstra Rising Star nomination.

Farrow said the decision to commit to Essendon long-term was an easy one.

“I’m incredibly excited to be staying at Essendon until at least the end of 2030,” Farrow said.

"When the opportunity to extend came up, my eyes lit up straight away because I really believe in where this group is heading.

“I can’t wait for what’s ahead. There’s so much talent coming through and you can feel the excitement building around what we can achieve together over the next few years.

“I’ve absolutely loved my first year at Essendon. I’ve built great connections with a lot of the boys, the younger group has become really close, and it’s been awesome to feel so welcomed by everyone at the club.

“The supporters are amazing and just keep showing up for us. The noise and atmosphere they create at Marvel Stadium and the MCG is electric, and their support means a lot to all of us.”

Sharp’s old-school, hard-nosed clearance game has already made him a fan favourite.

The lifelong Bomber fan has quickly become one of the standout young players in the competition. He ranks third in his draft crop for clearances per game, and fifth for contested possessions and pressure acts.

The 19-year-old has also been the beneficiary of a Telstra Rising Star nod after his inspired 23-disposal effort against an experienced GWS midfield in Round 19.

“We’ve got something very special growing at the Club at the moment and all us boys can feel it,” Sharp said.

"To know I’ll continue to be part of the journey over the next few years is something I’m super pumped about.

“We have a really tight-knit group and have a lot of fun together, but we also challenge each other, drive standards, and push each other to become the best players and teammates we can be.

“To get exposure through the midfield this year has been a huge highlight for me. Earning opportunities alongside players like Durham, Merrett and Caldwell has taught me so much and given me great confidence for the future.

“The support from the Bomber Army this year has been incredible, especially during a tough season. The more games we play together and the more we continue to grow, the more exciting the future looks.”

The pair’s re-signing comes after star forward Nate Caddy also secured his future in recent months with a deal until 2031.

Essendon’s GM of List and Recruiting Matt Rosa lauded the youngsters for their impact in such a short period of time, commending their commitment to the Club.

“We were over the moon to secure ‘Sharpy’ and ‘Faz’ on draft night and in the space of just nine months, they’ve proven exactly why,” Rosa said.

“They’re such high-quality young men and are already vital to what we’re building at this club. In addition to Nate’s recent re-signing and the improvement of our kids, we’re now seeing the building blocks of Essendon’s next successful team.

“These boys have come in and bought into every single aspect of the Club. With their attitude and the early signs of leadership they provide around a young group, it’s no surprise they’ve started their careers as well as they have.

“Their eagerness to commit to the Club long-term highlights the bond that’s continuing to grow within this playing group.”
