Essendon Football Club is excited to announce Bess Keaney will return to the AFLW Active List, following the completion of her postpartum recovery.
The respected leader played an invaluable role off-field throughout 2025 while pregnant, continuing to guide her teammates and support the Club’s emerging leaders throughout the season.
Keaney has also made her return to the Dons’ VFLW side in recent weeks, building back into football.
AFLW General Manager Aysha Ward said the Club was thrilled to have Keaney back available for AFLW selection, with her on-field leadership and experience set to be a valuable addition to the playing group.
“We’re incredibly excited to have Bess back on the Active List and available for selection,” Ward said.
“Bess has played such an important role within our program, both on and off the field, and her leadership and experience are invaluable to this group.
“To see her work her way back into football following the birth of her child has been fantastic, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what the next chapter looks like for Bess.”
Keaney will be available for selection for round four vs. Geelong at GMHBA Stadium this Sunday, with bounce at 2:35pm (AEST).
