Essendon has secured the long-term future of defender Zoe Prowse, who is signing a contract extension that will keep her in the sash until at least the end of 2030.

Prowse joined Essendon ahead of the 2026 season following five years at Adelaide, and made her Club debut in front of a home crowd at Windy Hill in round one against the Lions.

Arriving as one of the competition’s most highly regarded young defenders, the 23-year-old played 47 games for the Crows, including 10 finals, establishing herself as a reliable and versatile presence across the defensive half.

At 177cm, Prowse’s athleticism and ability to play a variety of roles have been hallmarks of her game throughout her career.

Her development at Adelaide saw her claim back-to-back Best Defensive Player awards in 2023 and 2024, while a strong 2024 campaign also earned her selection in the AFLPA’s 22under22 team.

Prowse’s versatility has been evident from the beginning of her football journey, having been selected as the ruck in the 2021 U19 All-Australian side before developing into an established AFLW defender.

Having only recently begun her journey at the NEC Hangar, Prowse’s extension represents another important piece of Essendon’s long-term AFLW plans, securing an experienced young defender through the prime years of her career.

AFLW Head of List and Recruiting Josh Moore said is excited to see Prowse’s impact on the program over the next few years.
