Embracing the great vibes, Ben Brown shares his enthusiasm after a second-half resurgence saw the AFLW Dons take a road win home after several weeks of struggle.
The Bombers have stunned by securing their first win in grand style with Brown crediting the result to multiple weeks of unrewarded effort, and inspiring individual moments.
See what Brown had to say below:
Brown on… post win emotions
“The vibe is great. I’m just so stoked for the girls. All of the hard work that they’ve put in over a long period of time really comes to fruition. You get to sing the song and everyone’s feeling great, it’s bloody awesome.”
“I think as well after having seven losses to start the year it really shows, and we’ve shown the last few weeks actually that the fight hasn’t gone away, we’ve had some really great efforts toward the back end of games.”
Brown on… the connection of the lineup
“I think it definitely shows the character of the group that they were able to stick together, we want to be connected competitors, and I think that’s what we saw in the second half today. We came out and threw a couple of punches in the third and managed to get a really good comeback going.”
Brown on… Prespakis’ current inspiring form
“She’s a competitor. She throws herself into every contest - contest after contest - she’s in and under winning the ball, winning clearances, getting forward and kicking goals as well like we saw today.
She’s a very, very good player and she has been for a long period of time. With the work that she put in over a long period, over a long preseason, I think that’s where she’s got her body and herself to the place where she can impact like she has.”
Brown on… individual moments that impacted the game
“I think everyone had moments which was great to see. Buschy’s tackle was one, Amy Gaylor just popping up and getting her aerial game going and then being able to bounce off the back of that was fantastic to see too.
We finished in front of goal in the second half, Daria Bannister comes out and just does what Daria does and kicks a goal too. I think it was a whole lot of efforts throughout the day and a real team effort.”
Brown on… carrying momentum forward
“I think there’ll be plenty still to polish. There were areas of our game in the first half, even in the second that we can always work on, but the Dogs are a young, hard running team and they’ll hit us with all they’ve got.”
“We’ve got to be well prepared for them, and we’ll go hard to work on it but I think trying to build some momentum off this week and the second half that we were able to put together, that’s what we’ll be going after this week.”
