This weekend will mark a historic milestone for Windy Hill, with the venue set to host its first-ever AFLW double-header as part of the 2026 AFLW Pride Round.
Sunday afternoon will see Collingwood take on the Sydney Swans at 12:30pm (AEDT), before the Bombers host reigning premiers North Melbourne at 3:05pm (AEDT).
The double-header marks another milestone for the spiritual home of the Bombers, following the $3.2 million redevelopment jointly funded by Essendon Football Club and the AFL, which marks the first stage of redevelopments at the ground.
The redevelopment was designed to provide AFLW and community footballers with a safe, high-performing environment, further strengthening Windy Hill’s role as a hub for women’s football and the wider community.
Throughout the 2026 NAB AFLW season, Windy Hill has also taken on a new role as a neutral venue, welcoming clubs from across the competition beyond Essendon for the first time.
Sunday’s double-header will continue to build on that legacy, bringing two AFLW contests to the historic precinct and showcasing the growth of women’s football at one of the game’s most iconic venues.
