Young defender Aaron Francis has committed to the future, signing on for three more years to remain in the red and black until at least the end of 2022.
One of the Bombers' most exciting and versatile prospects, the 22-year-old has had his most consistent season to date, featuring in 17 games in 2019.
Drafted at pick No.6 in the 2015 national draft, Francis made an impressive senior debut in round 18, 2016 against the Brisbane Lions at Marvel Stadium.
In round 22, 2018, he secured a nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star for his performance against Richmond.
Francis said he was rapt to continue his career with the Bombers.
“I'm thrilled to extend my contract at Essendon for a further three years. I feel I have a tremendous support system around me, from the players to the administration, to assist me in achieving my goals in all aspects of my life,” Francis said.
“I am loving my time at the club and I’m fully committed to working hard on my game so I can increase my impact on the senior side.
“There is an exciting feeling amongst this group and what we can achieve together over the next few seasons, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.”
