Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce Tom Bellchambers has extended his contract for a further two years.

The new deal will see the ruckman don the sash until at least the end of 2020.

The exciting big man has had one of his finest seasons, dominating some of the best rucks in the competition including Nic Naitanui and Matthew Kreuzer.

Bellchambers said he was thrilled to sign on and continue to build on what Essendon is working towards.

“I am super happy to re-sign as I have huge belief that the list and club are in a great place on and off the field,” Bellchambers said.

“Being a one club player is important to me. I was excited when I got the call 11 years ago to come to Essendon and I’m even more excited to stay and build on what we have started with Woosha and Hepp.

“I have been working closely with Hayden Skipworth and the High Performance team this year to manage my body, and I think my best footy is in front of me.”

Bellchambers joined the Bombers with pick eight in the 2007 pre-season draft. He recently celebrated his 100th game in the red and black, now with 105 AFL matches to his name.

Senior Coach, John Worsfold, said Bellchambers is a key player for the Bombers.

“Tom has been in outstanding form this season, possibly the best form of his career,” Worsfold said.

“He plays an important role in getting the ball to our players first and setting up play, and also has the ability to run forward and kick goals.

“Tom is a well-respected player throughout the AFL and his leadership both on and off the field make him an extremely valuable person to have for our team.”
