Aside from the game, there will be pre-game entertainment for spectators, as well as the opportunity for Bomber supporters to assist Starlight by purchasing a piece of Starlight’s merchandise or making a donation on the night. Please get behind this worthwhile cause, because without the support from the community Starlight would not be able to continue brightening the lives of seriously ill children throughout Australia.
Keen Essendon supporter Tamara, visited Bomber training yesterday as a part of her Starlight wish. The eight-year-old suffers from Neuronal Intestinal Dysplasia a congenital condition and will return to the Royal Children’s hospital next month for treatment. Tamara will be Essendon's mascot for the day and run out with the team at the Round 14 Western Bulldogs v Essendon match. Her favourite players are James Hird and Matthew Lloyd.
Essendon and Melbourne play each other for the first time at Colonial Stadium this Friday night in a crunch match for both sides. The 2000 Grand Final sides are both sitting on seven wins at the moment and aiming to stay in touch with the top four with a win. With Melbourne running into some recent form, Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy is expecting a tough encounter and said Melbourne probably has its best side in since the 2000 Grand Final. ""It is two years later, so they have a fair bit of experience and hunger so we have to be absolutely at our best this week,"" Sheedy said.
