Robert Shaw’s thoughts:
2003 was another step in the right direction for David Hille. He has been unfairly criticised for his inconsistency and what people still don't understand is you just can't pluck a ruckmen and turn them into John Nicholls or Polly Farmer overnight - it takes time. He has kicked more goals than any other ruckman in the competition. He had outstanding performances against Luke Darcy and Michael Gardiner and if he continues to improve at the same rate, we will be absolutely delighted.

What some of fan’s had to say:
David has continued to improve both his rucking and forward play and should be capable of dominating games on a regular basis in 2004. With Allan coming to the club I think Hille could turn into a very dangerous forward while resting and could play CHF with his athleticism . He is a great pack mark and can kick accurately (usually) from a long way out. Peter Ackary

Had by far his best season at the club and thoroughly deserved his most improved player award. Never stopped trying in any game and was handy up forward. Rachelle Bransgrove

Hille improved tremendously this year and I think he will only get better. He is an integral part of the team. Andrea De Boer

David Hille has finally come of age. He has had a great season and I'm sure he will continue on his great improvement next season. Well Done Hillsy! Vince Canturi

David Hille had a fantastic season. He has become a fantastic ruckman for the bombers. On top of a good season in the ruck, he kicked 20 goals and got and award at the Crichton Medal. A fantastic season for Hille and many more to come! Jessica Alickolli

A great year for Hille in 2003, I hope he can continue on next year, had a very big load this year being the no.1 ruckman at the age of 22, though he did it very well. Congratulations Hille on a very good year, hope u can better it next year. Jahmin Daga

David had an excellent season. His ability to run forward and kick goals whilst still having an impact in the centre is a bonus. Looking forward to more next year with Allen. Benjamin Dunn

It was great to see Hille grab his chance at last. He is mobile and agile enough to cause damage around the ground however needs to have more of an impact around centre bounces or ball-ups. With more experience and support (e.g. Mattthew Allan), David has the opportunity to become a great player. Glenn Smooker
