In recognition of the partnership between the Essendon Football Club and Cricket Victoria supporting the GloBALL program, Australia Day will see sporting elite go head-to-head at Windy Hill, an event proudly supported by iPrimus.

GloBALL participants Bazil and Murali will have the opportunity to be part of the day after winning the opportunity to showcase their respective batting and bowling abilities on Australia Day.

Bazil says he is thrilled to have been announced as a team-member for the Essendon cricket side and says despite having played cricket at a domestic level, he hopes his nerves won’t get the better of him on the day.

“I don’t think I will be able to sleep until game day, I am absolutely thrilled to have been chosen and already I have goose bumps,” he said.

Murali is delighted to be doing battle against the Essendon Bombers as a team-member for the Victorian DEC Bushrangers and says he is looking forward to the prospect of playing amongst the likes of Clint McKay, John Hastings and Andrew McDonald.

“There are no words to say, it is a dream come true. I cannot wait till I play with some of the great names in the game,” he said.

Launched in 2009, the GloBALL program is a joint initiative run by the Essendon Football Club and Cricket Victoria which aims to help international students and newly arrived migrants settle into life in Australia. In 2010, the program saw more than 4000 participants receive the opportunity to participate in various football and cricket activities including free entry to matches, clinics and tours.

All funds raised will be donated to both the Victorian and Queensland Flood Appeals.
