Bendigo took the early lead, entering half time with a margin of 4.3 and, despite Williamstown’s thrilling comeback attempt in the final quarter, managed win the game narrowly 9.16 (70) to Williamstown’s 9.13 (67).
Essendon youngster Jake Carlisle excelled in the match and was named amongst the best on ground for his scoring of three goals to lead the individual goal-kickers.
Essendon stars Nathan Lovett-Murray and David Myers were also named among the best on ground.
