Essendon ruck man Tom Bellchambers hassuffered a broken cuboid bone in his foot following a fall during the warm upof Saturday night’s match against Collingwood.
Essendon general manager of football PaulHamilton said the injury was not expected to impact the 23-year-old’s pre-season.
“As serious as it sounds it is an injurythat will heal,” Hamilton said.
“It is not one of the more dangerous bonesto break in the foot but it is one he will have to keep off for four weeks.
“He should be back up and running in six weeksand he has an eight week break so we would expect he will be up and running forthe start of pre-season training.”
Hamilton explained the injury simply meansBellchambers has to be more cautious during his off-season break.
“We don’t think it will hamper hispre-season, it just means that while he is away he needs to be a bit careful,”he said.
“If he wants to do any type of conditioninghe has to be in a pool or on a bike, so he is just going to have to beconscious of those things.”
“He will certainly need a four weekrehabilitation period where he really just has to keep off it and get itright.”
Bellchambers sustained the injury when helanded on an Essendon official while practicing ruck taps during the warm up of Saturday night’s match.
