Once again, Kevin Sheedy’s tactic of recycling experienced players has proven successful, according to Essendon fans. Like Matthew Allan, Murphy resurrected his career under Sheedy’s tutelage and supporters have made it clear they think he was a real bonus for the club. But some fans said they will be more convinced of his worth if Murphy can produce the goods again in 2005.

""Great draft pick-up by the Bombers. 'Murphy gave Essendon some much needed leg speed in the midfield, and also a handy option up forward. Filled in the hole that was left with Cupido injured. With both Murphy and Cupido in the same side, Bomber fans have much to look forward to."" Gordan Gasparovic.

""Great first year with the club. He had more good games than bad, and hopefully he will continue to play well next year. He provides support in the midfield, and can also kick goals."" David Famularo.

""Justin really fitted into the line-up and contributed in most games. His five-goal match was sensational. His long kicking helped to move the ball into the forward line. Just hope he doesn't suffer the second year blues (no pun intended!)."" David Whiting.

""Proved to be a very good addition to the player ranks especially with injuries to other players. Was among Essendon’s best on many occasions and often did special things that lifted the team."" Russell Stanfield.

""One of the main reasons Essendon made the finals was because of Justin's ability to get the ball and kick it forward. The real test will come next year when we see if he will lift again and get the monkey off his back."" Josh Harrison.

""Serviceable first up year for Murph. Still needs to work on defensive side. However his biggest challenge is to back up this year with an even better year in 2005. Something he has not done consistently at other clubs."" Alan Fairbairn.

""A solid year from Justin. Has proven himself to Essendon supporters time and time again this year. Surely most of the supporters hesitations about picking him up in the draft must be eased by now. He's playing career best footy at Bomberland and hopefully he can continue rubbing a few noses in it next year."" Mick Hibbert.

""Pretty happy with him which surprises me. If he plays like he did this year, he will be a very welcome member of this club."" Victoria Manson.
