RICHARDS TO MAKE SENIOR DEBUT
Essendon will have its first debutant for season 2002 when Ted Richards lines up for the Bombers against Richmond at the MCG tomorrow night. Richards has been rewarded for an excellent pre-season, the highlight being his performance across the half forward line against Fremantle in round three of the Wizard Cup. Richards was selection number 27 at the 2000 National Draft and played his TAC Cup football with the Sandringham Dragons.

Richards is 190cm tall and weighs 89kg. He is an excellent marks and is renowned for his hardness at the football. Richards started the 2001 VFL season in outstanding form but as with many youngsters, dropped off slightly as the season unfolded. But he is now bigger and stronger and ready for the rigours of senior football.

Essendon Football Club expects Dean Rioli to return to the club and re-commence training early next week. Assistant coach Robert Shaw and recently-retired Bomber champion Michael Long tonight returned from the Northern Territory where they have spent the past two days talking with the absent Essendon star. Rioli returned home to Melville Island because for personal reasons but is now ready to return to Melbourne to resume his AFL career.
