MCVEIGH TO MISS
Essendon has made two late changes to the side that will take on the in-form Geelong at Lavington Sports Oval tomorrow night. Mark McVeigh received a knock to his knee on Monday night at training and was expected to play, however his knee is not quite right. The good news is there is no damage, just soreness and he will definitely be available for Round 1. Andrew Welsh will replace McVeigh in the selected side.

Ruckman Steve Alessio has been included in the team. Alessio was originally ruled out due to back soreness but was given the all clear today by the Bombers' medical team. The coaching panel has opted to rest star full back Dustin Fletcher for the final practice match in light of him being unavailable for the Round 1 match against Brisbane due to suspension.
It is hard to believe the pre-season is nearly finished and another season is upon us. Essendon only has one practice match remaining before the home and season kicks off in two weeks. That means the coaching staff has one opportunity left to test out players in different positions, trial young players and work on getting the right team balance for the important Round 1 match against the Brisbane Lions.
