Hamilton said he was also pleased with the efforts Essendon put in to hold St Kilda to a draw on Friday night’s second game, with an after the siren goal from Mark Williams to secure the 38-point deadlock.
“Friday night showed the excitement that is around the club at the moment. Particularly in the second half of the second game against St Kilda, we were extremely pleased with the resilience the boys showed,” he said.
Hamilton told Bomber TV that the six-day turn around between the next game against Melbourne this Thursday night would mean some players would be rested during the week.
“We’ve come out of those two games on Friday night pretty well, with no major injury concerns which is pleasing.”
“This week we only have a six day turn around before our next game, so we are not going to be taking any risks and there are a few guys we will rest this week,” Hamilton said.
Both Nathan Lovett- Murray and Andrew Welsh will miss this Thursday night’s clash against Melbourne as precautionary measures.
“Both Nathan Lovett- Murray and Andrew Welsh will be rested this week, purely for pre-cautionary measures.""
“But overall, we were quite pleased to come out of those two games with no major injury concerns,” Hamilton told Bomber TV.

New recruit Ariel Steinberg is still recovering from a slight medial ligament but is likely to make a return to full training and game time in the coming weeks.
“Ariel is doing really well in his recovery from his minor medial ligament. In terms of his recovery process, he will need a couple more weeks before he resumes game time but is doing really well in his recovery.”
Hamilton said that while Tayte Pears was making impressive progress with his concerns, the Club would continue to take a cautious approach with his recovery.
“With Tayte we are treating his recovery conservatively and it is a gradual process because we want to get it right.”
“Tayte is out running and is gradually building up his training, but is still a number of weeks away.”
Hamilton added Essendon ruckman David Hille was making encouraging progress with his recovery and was a chance to return in the coming weeks.
“David is travelling really well at the moment and we are really pleased with his recovery. We would hope that we might get a game or two of the NAB Cup into him before the end of the pre-season,” Hamilton said.
