The Essendon match committee tonight decided to take the no-risk approach with ruckman John Barnes and have left him out of the side to play Sydney at Colonial Stadium on Sunday. Barnes has had a sore achilles for much of the week and has not completed a full training session because of the problem. ""It isn't a major problem but it is one of those injuries you need to be very careful with,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said. ""We would only expect him to miss one week."" The Bombers brought in Judd Lalich, Aaron Henneman and Mark Johnson as replacements for James Hird (ankle), Matthew Lloyd (suspended) and Barnes.
