Progressing well with his rehabilitation, Essendon forward Joe Daniher will return to Ireland to visit the specialist who has been providing consultation on his groin injury.

General manager of football Dan Richardson said the club was in regular communication with the specialist, who is based in Dublin.

“With the rest of the playing group at Coffs Harbour for our pre-season training camp next week, it presented a good opportunity for Joe to return to Ireland to check in with his specialist,” Richardson said.

“Joe has been progressing well over recent weeks and we hope that this momentum will continue as we enter the next stages of our pre-season campaign.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Mitch Hibberd has been cleared of serious damage to his knee after suffering a heavy knock to the area at training on Thursday morning.
