Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy said he expects Carlton will come out with all guns blazing at the MCG this Friday night. ""They are a very proud football club and I thought they played well against Collingwood. I had Carlton in my top eight at the start of the season so I have a lot of respect for them,"" Sheedy said. ""And their coach won't want to lose three in a row - when is the last time Denis Pagan lost three matches in a row.""

Sheedy was speaking before this afternoon's 60-minute training session at Windy Hill. Despite completing 45 minutes of the session, Hird will still need to prove his fitness before this Friday night's game. ""I haven't got him in the side at the moment,"" Sheedy said. ""He will need to prove that he is fit later in the week.""

Hird is the only injury concern for the Bombers going into this weekend's match. The news hasn't been as good at the Blues with captain Brett Ratten expected to miss two to three weeks with a knee injury and Cory McKernan also facing a race against time to be fit.

Sheedy again re-iterated how impressed he had been with the performance of Dustin Fletcher, adding that the star full back probably felt he owed his teammates that sort of performance following his supension. ""He would have felt a bit of that because that is the sort of person he is,"" Sheedy said. ""He was our best player but he should be producing that sort of football for us - he has a lot of experience and he should have been fresh having missed the game against Brisbane.""
