The Essendon Football Club cricket selectors, headed by assistant coach Robert Shaw and team captain Joe Misiti, have released the side for today's cricket clash against the Kangaroos.

The Bombers and Kangaroos will do battle in the final of the St John Cricket Cup at the MCG, with the match commencing at 3pm.

The match will raise funds for St John Ambulance volunteers and spectators attending the match are asked to donate a gold coin.

Misiti said the selected side gave him a number of bowling options while still giving the team the batting depth required to win the match.

The team for the game is: Joe Misiti, Judd Lalich, Dean Solomon, Jason Johnson, Dean Rioli, Paul Barnard, Scott Lucas, Daniel McAlister, Ted Richards, John Banres and Mark Bolton.

"We have made some changes and Matthew Lloyd has been left out. He wasn't happy but there was no room for sentiment - he just didn't do enough with the ball in our first game," Misiti said.

"He might be able to kick goals okay but to be brutally honest he bowls all over the shop. He'll work on that and be a better player for us next year."

The Bombers have some big hitters in the side namely the captain himself, Dean Solomon, Jason Johnson and Paul Barnard so the crowd is sure to be entertained today.

So get down to the 'G', support the Bombers and help out a very worthy cause.
