Legendary broadcaster Bruce McAvaney has chosen Hamish Salburg's call of Jobe Watson's famous 2013 Anzac Day goal as the overall winner of the Your Call from Home series.

A weekly competition inviting supporters to submit their commentary for iconic Essendon moments during the shutdown period, Salburg beat fellow finalists Nick Davis (Michael Long's goal in the 1993 Grand Final) and Dwayne Paisley (Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti's 2019 match-winner against North Melbourne).

Appearing on club podcast Working Through It, McAvaney said it was a tough decision to make.

"I’ve got to say, they’re good. I felt like, 'Geez, I’m taking notes here'," McAvaney said.

"The Long goal has more to it, and I feel hard doing this, but just the conclusion to the Watson goal was just superb. I reckon he absolutely nailed the last four or five seconds."
