LLOYD RESTING COMFORTABLY
Champion Essendon full forward Matthew Lloyd is resting comfortably at home after being being released from hospital last night. Lloyd was taken to Epworth Hospital after an accidental clash of heads saw him knocked out during Essendon's Elimination Final against West Coast. Lloyd said today he could remember little of the incident. ""It is all a bit of a blur, I certainly can't recall the collision,"" Lloyd told the Essendon website.

""I have seen some replays on television. It is just one of those things that happens in football - fortunately it doesn't happen all that often,"" Lloyd said. ""I'm still a bit sore today but there is a chance I could play on the weekend. I'll be guided by the medical staff.""
""I've had a lot of phone calls from family, friends and people from the football club. I thank those people for their concern,"" Lloyd said. ""It was a great win by the boys last night - it lifted my spirits when I heard the final score.""
Lloyd will have some concussion testing later this week before a decision is made on whether he is fit to take on Port Adelaide in next weekend's semi-final.
Brisbane and Collingwood took giant strides toward a Grand Final spot securing home preliminary finals with fantastic wins on the weekend. And while the margin of the Lions’ victory over the Crows may have surprised, it couldn’t match the Pies, who shrugged off indifferent form to defeat the minor Premiers on home soil. And the Bombers and Dees survive another week, but it’s goodbye to the Eagles and the Roos.
