A classic dribbling goal from the boundary by Essendon young gun Zach Merrett has received a nomination for the Round 17 Goal of the Year.

The ball fell into the 18-year-old’s lap as he ran towards the boundary line before slamming it onto his boot and rolling the footy home for a remarkable goal under pressure.

It was just one of Merrett’s two goals as he collected 24 disposals in Essendon’s 64-point win over Collingwood, elevating the Bombers back into the top eight.

In the Hungry Jack’s Goal of the Year competition, viewers are asked to vote for their favourite goal from a short list of three players chosen by an expert panel each week.
