Essendon’s first to fourth year players have returned to the training track to kick off their 2015 pre-season campaign.

Michael Hibberd, Mark Baguley and Dyson Heppell led a group of more than 18 young Bombers to return to training on Wednesday morning.

The group took part in a light skills session on the MCG sized oval at the True Value Solar Centre to kick off their first day back.

Hibberd said it was important to get some of the cobwebs out of the system after an extended break.

“It was good to be back out there having a run around with the guys, we haven’t seen each other for over a month now,” Hibberd said.

“To get back in and start another pre-season is exciting.”

“It is good to have Hirdy back into full time coaching again and with Harves and Mark Neeld it is a good coaching group.”

“We will get to know them over the next few weeks a bit better but it is exciting.”

Marty Gleeson, Jason Ashby, Joe Daniher and Zach Merrett were also among those returning to the track.

Irishman Conor McKenna met his new teammates for the first time after arriving in Australia on Tuesday evening.

McKenna looked at ease during the initial session as he had his first kick with his new teammates.

Will Hams and Nick Kommer joined their teammates in a light run and skills session following an injury riddled 2014 season for the pair.

The group will undergo two days of testing, including a time trial, as they prepare for an arduous pre-season over the summer months.

The club’s full playing group will return to training on November 17 before a select group of players head to Boulder for an altitude camp in December.
