Essendon captain Jobe Watson helped launch 2014 AFL Multicultural Round on Tuesday morning at the Many Cultures One Game Diversity breakfast in the Docklands.

Round 18 will celebrate ‘Many Cultures, One Game’, highlighting the contribution multicultural communities make to Australia’s Game at all levels.

The Bombers captain joined a panel alongside Anthony Koutoufides, AFL goal umpire Jason Venkataya and Unity Wrap designer Shanaaz Copeland for the launch.

Watson said he was excited to be an AFL Australia Post Multicultural Ambassador.

“The more I thought about it the more I wanted to be part of the program,” he said.

“How can you expect society to be inclusive if a proportion of society only think multiculturalism is the responsibility of people with multicultural backgrounds?”

“To build on being an inclusive game and being accessible to people from all different backgrounds, it’s important that someone who doesn’t have a diverse a multicultural background as others is interested and is part of the program.”

“That’s why I’m really happy to be a part of it.”
