Essendon will create AFL history tonight by unveiling club ‘theming' at Etihad Stadium for the first time.

The club has worked with Spike Creative, ISS Marketing, the AFL, Etihad Stadium and Stadia Media to bring to life an exciting, new match-day experience that aims to ignite the passion in Essendon fans.

The theming is also designed to create a home-ground feel - an Essendon cauldron - which is what our members have requested.

We urge all supporters to arrive early, walk the footbridge and soak up the atmosphere.

The theming can be seen by clicking here and will take the following shape:

Outside Stadium:

Eight 3.5m images of the players will be erected on the footbridge to Etihad Stadium and audio and lights will also be utilised. Pre-recorded player messages will be beamed on the big screens inside and outside the ground, the pillars around the stadium will have player images and a written message will be beamed onto the stadium wall outside gate 3 (at night).

Inside Stadium:

The pillars and roof inside the stadium's mainentrances will have player images and messages, there will be interviews with the ground announcer pre-game (Terry Daniher will be speaking at 7:15pm tonight), and the crowd is being called on to wear red and black to theme around the ground. To alsogenerate excitement, when the team is about to come out to play, the crowd will be notified by an air-raid siren. There will also be crowd activities throughout the breaks including a quiz based around the 1984/85 Premierships.

Remember, to add to the overall experience - and show your support for team - simply deck yourself out in Red and Black gear, head to the ground and turn Etihad into an Essendon cauldron.

Essendon match-day theming will be on show at all home games at Etihad Stadium for the remainder of the season.

Red and Black unite!
