Young Bomber Chris Ladhams has returned home to South Australia and will not be playing for the Bombers in season 2001.

A contingent of Essendon football department staff flew to South Australia last week to speak with Ladhams but were unable to convince him to return to Windy Hill.

"The club is disappointed he didn't want to continue with the Essendon but he has made his decision," Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said.

"In the end he wanted to be back in South Australia and close to his family."

Ladhams joined Essendon as the club's number 23 draft selection in 1998. Essendon secured the selection after trading Che Cockatoo-Collins to Port Adelaide.

Ladhams did not play a senior game for the club but was a member of the 1999 reserves premiership side.
