With Joe Misiti still on the sidelines, 21-year-old Damien Peverill will face the arduous task of playing on back-to-back Brownlow medal winner Robert Harvey.
“Damien’s form has been good in six of his seven matches, he has been able to take a good opponent,” said football manager Matthew Drain. “But he is probably going to have to be his best tonight. It’s not Harvey’s ability to win the ball, but he wins in stoppages and he has a strong roving capacity and clearance capacity around stoppages. So they are going to be the areas which Damian is going to have to be really sharp on.”
Meanwhile, 20-year-old David Hille will also face a tough contest when he meets up with Peter ‘Spider’ Everitt in the ruck.
“It’s going to be a big contest for the young fellow. We have been happy with him and he is in very good form. He’ll have to work to get the first hand on the ball,” said Drain.
The Bombers will be keen for a big win tonight after last week’s rare loss to Brisbane. The last game against St Kilda saw Essendon come out on top by 86 points – a margin the team will be happy to repeat tonight.
